| Where do I get MAME? |
This depends on what you want. MAME is being developed as open source. As a result, a version exists for just about every operating system. This also means that you will have to locate the version for the operating system you are using. The best place to start is the base camp for MAME, located at http://www.mame.net. Here, you'll find links to the various ports. Just download the one you want to try out.
I would also suggest that you take the time to browse their FAQ. It will answer some of the questions you are sure to come up with, and keep you from being discouraged when you try to seek support for the MAME software package from this website.
Be warned, downloading MAME is only your first step. You will have to come up with ROM images, or copies of arcade board software, for the games that you want to be able to play in MAME. For example. If you want to play Donkey Kong, you will have to get your hands on the ROM file dkong.zip. You are further advised that it is illegal for you to possess any ROM image for hardware that you do not own. Consider this before you download any ROM image from the internet. If you have a legal right to download a particular ROM, you can start your search at any major search engine by looking for "arcade roms".
